Rock Concert Newbie

I'd better get this over and done with..yesterday I was doing an entry on this and i got bored halfway coz unlike other people who would just love to narrate about the things they do on a typical outing with boyfriend/girlfriend/fiancee/friends, I hate to narrate about stuffs. I shall just give a summary...which does not equate to mere 5o words but I don't know why I like to call it summary..hehe.

Okay! I wanted to say I had an awesome time at the Muse Concert last Tuesday which I had been waiting for more than two months! And the waiting didn't end there..apparently, I had to wait yet another one and a half hour in the open field at Fort Canning Park. I was bloody nervous. Nervous of the crowd..not so much of going to see Muse up close. But my friend didn't paint a good picture when she said that she might need to pull my arm.

It was exciting because we got to be quite near the front which means that I would get a good view of Muse! I had to entertain myself by looking at the people setting up the stage..yawns..but hey...there was this cute security guard..i mean...seriously cute security guard who is part of the Muse entourage and he was just standing there..and smiling at times (would you believe it...smiling?!). He didn't look the sort who could control the crowd at all! but rahayu likes......hehe.

Oh, and I also could feast my eyes on sherry's boyfriend's friend who was cute (i hope she doesn't read this entry..bwahahaha!!) with nice toned biceps..haiz..a sight for sore eyes. He reminded me of this eurasian guy I used to like when I was sixteen. Then as the crowd began to get bigger and bigger and it was getting squeezy and squeezy...I somehow inched towards him..but I didn't talk to any of their friends except this couple who made very the small talk with me in the end when they sent me to the mrt in their lorry. Aiyah...sorry to say this lah but I didn't feel like talking to anyone from that group not that I hate them..but..I was just there for the concert.

Gawd...after the tweaking and the spider-man like climbing of the pillars...smoke was blown but still Muse not around. But the second time the stage got cloudier and cloudier..poof! MUSE WAS HERE!! WAHEY!!! But bloody hell..just as I was star struck with Muse on stage who didn't waste any time to perform as they picked up their instruments and started jamming away..the crowd got violent. Stoopid f**kers were just pushing so hard that I almost fell twice and would have kissed the muddy grounds if I had not held to sherry's friend a.k.a the hottie. I just grabbed anyone to break my fall and sherry's friend had to be the victim even though he didn't fell but just bent back a bit from the pressure. He didn't fall on top of me or anyone like he was so strong and just bounced right back up like a rubber ball! That one you can call a seasoned rock concert attendee. For myself, I didn't want to lose my footing and when my sandal fell off, safety was not a concern. I just wanted my bloody slippers back which I quickly gropped around with my bare foot for it and fooh, it took me just a second. I panicked you know! Then...it happened again! Alamak...testing my patience till I was thinking hard if I should just leave coz less than 5 minutes I found it hard to bear the violent rowdy freaks-of-nature and imagine being pushed around for two hours! And again...they got pushy like doing it on purpose! The crowd in the middle to my left seemed to be doing all the pushing and that group was made up of mainly malay teenagers who I found just pushed for the sake of pushing! Ey..you want to watch the concert or you want to push people around?!!!

But ten minutes later, it was under control probably they got tired of pushing already. I lost my friend but I remembered about the tips she told me to just push without any care and I didn't want to push that much already because well..I was not quite pushed around anymore. Plus, I found my strategy. The body contact was so near that I was practically leaning on the guy infront as the crowd jumped around. He didn't seem to mind because apparently, he was almost leaning on his friend too. There was so much body contact that I was sweating coz of the heat from people and it didn't help that other people's sweat were swiped on me too...eurgh..I found myself moving a bit backwards but it was not so bad after that because apparently, that new standing ground of mine had a better view coz I think the slope was a bit upward..heh..

I just could not believe how much groping I had to do to stay put and it was quite unsettled because people were always moving around and in the end, I found the perfect victim. As other people were pretty outrageous in their rock fan antics, there was this tall chinese guy who was just bopping his head up and down appreciating the music rather than jumping around and waving a universal hand gesture around..heh..I didn't want to do all that coz I wanted to concentrate on Muse playing that I didn't want to skip a beat but at times, I found myself having to jump up and down by force not coz I wanted to but if I didn't jump, I would be pushed around. So either I jump or kiss the ground..either way man..either way. Haiz...the things I had to do.

I mean..okay...I won't be a rock fan if I just stood there but hey..at least I did bop my head a bit especially if I liked the tunes they played. Other than that, err..after awhile, i got tired lah and rather stand and just watch..haha! Well, I got to admit that Michael's voice was so superb that he sounded hell lot better than on the radio which I thought he would not be able to replicate because it felt like it sounded so challenging. Suprisingly, I was so amazed how he could do even much better manipulating his vocals to a haunting effect live in concert! It was just so amazing..gawd..Muse rocks man! They were all so freaking talented I tell you..they didn't skip a beat..from the drums, the guitars and even piano accompaniments by Michael that could rival Jamie Cullum! It was just music music all the way and they didn't waste time on small talks except the occasional it's nice to be here in Singapore one liner thingey. They wooed the crowd from start to finish and took a short break before coming back on stage singing their latest single and the crowd's favourite and the crowd..despite me badmouthing them earlier on...just went into this spontaneous clapping gestures with their arms high up in the air clapping according to the beat and I seriously thought if they had done the research on you tube on what to do at a muse concert. Oh my.....even though that song was not exactly a rock anthem, it was definitely everyone's favourite there including myself.

That's the beauty of muse music! They're not exactly stuck in one genre. They're a mish mash of many musical influences in their own brand of style that they are one of the best alternative bands around. They have the awards to show for it! You can just tell that their fan base is getting stronger and stronger nowadays even though they started in 2001 and now they are getting huge recognitions and I didn't believe that the concert would have such a full turn-out that I heard people actually tried to gatecrash. You know you always hear the usual favourites like Linkin Park, Hoobastank and all the emobands...but I never heard anyone liking Muse in Singapore. And I know how the younger Singaporeans are..they follow the crowd sort...like that time, my friend is this huge Limp Bizkit fan and no one we knew of knew that band. Until they started to play commercialised music, every nerd, geeks and tweets knew them..even small kids! We were like..haiz..there goes another rock band. For us, once bands started to get recognition for playing music 'soothing' to the general masses, we were like....pfft....boRing! Like for Linkin Park, before the typical Singaporean crowds went wild over them, me and my friend knew about their existence and the actual kind of music they played until their songs got diluted to again...appease the general crowd...that somehow, I found their follow up album to Hybrid Theory..disappointing. I was like...I want the old Linkin Park back.

But Muse is going to be here for a looOooooNg time and I think their journey is about to begin. They're getting known for their energetic live performances and I was there to witness it. Nevermind if in the crowd there seemed to be one or two people high on alcohol especially this one Minah who was a bit bigger in size than me and I felt that she was just trying SOoOOO hard to be a rock fan. She just turned out to be a huge wannabe..it was so obvious...you don't have to go freakishly wild what...she was just too much for even the people around her too who would give her stares every now and then with her freakish screams and her mad flailing of her arms which seemed to hit me at times even though I did move away a few times. She just jumped and jumped like without any sense of directions as if she was creating a huge space for herself. Gawd.............the other small group of malay minahs were just screaming and screaming in such a shrilling manner on purpose to show how HUGE a fan they were I can tell you the ringing sound I had for two days was not from the loud speakers but from them. I can tell some of them merely wanted to show off to their boyfriends that they were in sync with their taste of music too but alamak...it was SooOo fake tat I think my forced head bopping and jumping looked hell lot more original than them.

Muse did not disappoint and I didn't waste my 70 plus dollar ticket at last because I managed to concentrate on their music after I seriously established with myself that I was so not going to waste my money being scared of jostling around by some people which made me stronger actually. Oh, and I also asked protection from God at some point of time when they were playing when I predicted the next verse of song or chorus, the crowd would start to jump around like crazy..hehe..and HE did not disappoint me because I did feel like I was being protected.

So there you go.....my 'summary' of muse concert in Singapore! Muse ROCKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Birthday Gathering & House Hunting

Last week, I celebrated a friend of mine's belated birthday together with another friend at her condo. Sadly, this would be the last time we would hold the celebration at her place because she has finally managed to sell off her condo unit after one year of looking for a buyer. Mostly we used the swimming pool facilities although the two of us didn't swim at all but just chill under the shade. We brought home cooked food and I really appreciated my friend for doing this for us, thinking about how the young son of a friend of us would love the swimming pool for kids. She is so selfless and kind to her friends and I'm truly blessed to have her in my life.  While one was selling off the house, the other friend was on the verge of getting a dream house for herself and her young son. In life, we have many priorities and things to look forward to. Each of our dreams and aspirations are different from one another, like for me, getting a house is not a priority at the moment.  ...

A Reminder to the Living

Recently, we lost our former President when he passed away at the age of 92. He was known to have his heart for the people although those who worked closely with him couldn't actually picture him as that for he was a taskmaster when it came to work. He did his own narratives and do the best that he could as he knew where he came from and wanted to make good out of his life.  He showed that the circumstances that we are in can't stop us from going far in life. We should continue to focus on our actions, has strong dedication and when things get difficult, look at the bigger picture and understand why we are here. Ultimately, we should all be working towards the purpose we have in mind which makes things easier to cope. Thank you for helping the Singaporeans especially those who needed help most. You would always be the people's President. On the other spectrum, a young child had also lost his life. A few of my colleagues witnessed the events which unfolded in front of...
