Completing the 28 Day Chloe Ting Summer Shred Challenge - Achievement Unlocked!

I know this picture with the ice cream don't relate to fitness, but I'm quite amazed at my more defined arms, lmao..thanks to the various types of planks, push ups, tricep toe touch etc etc... Today I completed the last day of 28 days 2020 Chloe Ting Summer Shred Challenge and oh boy, she really wanted to make us give our all on this day. So each day we had to do a few types of workout, usually one full body and the other two or so, abs and core. The transition to another workout after completing the first round, is quite a mental test, lol. But for the 28th day, it was full on torture like in all the 3 workouts, she included burpees, various planks, bicycle crunch and crab toe touch..something like that. The last workout was 20 minutes long and at some point, I thought maybe I will continue later but I persisted. Sweating like a perpetual waterfall.  Also, I had never picked up so many new words before in fitness, lol. Sometimes I wonder why must exercise be this to...

Working Out with New Cross Trainer

I am so happy this has made an appearance at the gym I frequent...presenting the CROSS TRAINER!! For the life of me, I can't remember what is the name but I've got a feeling it is the same brand as the pic above. So this cross trainer..ahem...can give you a total body workout as it can make use of both your upper body and lower body. Why am I egg-cited about this? Well the ones that we used to have in the gym were mainly for the lower body because the arms were static and were mere handles for you to hold on to. And of course I would recall the times when I first started on my gym sessions at work and I went on this baby. Honestly it was hard at first and I struggled big time. Then again, I struggled throughout gym time but I guess I found my silent determination and soon I was making waves on it and they make me burn fats faster and become leaner faster too. Soon I was shedding weight like nobody's business. However there was only one of these babies and then p...

Health 101: Get Out of Your Comfort Zone

Back to back  post!  When you read about this post, I need to emphasize with you that in no way, am I saying you are unhealthy if you are obese or severely overweight. I just want you to know that if you think you are happy the way you are, then that is good. But this post is merely just suggesting that you may want to just take this post with a pinch of salt.  Just a little info (yet again...) that I am plus size but in the much lower range because basically, due to the genetic made up in my body, I have rather big hips. I used to be a lot bigger but I decided to take actions because I am sick and tired of being in this size. So I thought that I should do something to go out of this very comfortable comfort zone and finally try to lose some weight. Trust me, it wasn't easy but I had to. I was getting out of control with the various kinds of food that I had been eating. I know that being big doesn't mean that we're fat and lazy. There are a lot of them who are acti...

Fitness 101: Cross Trainers

If you're new to my blog I'm aiming to turn this blog into an all rounder, basically to help girls like me achieve certain things in life by sharing tidbits on useful knowledge that will benefit them for the rest of their lives. Okay, I know that sounds a bit far fetched but you know what they say, a little goes a long way. Though I pretty much want to look more toned and lean, I'm also genetically born to be curvy. And being curvy, there is this huge tendency for girls like me to easily gain weight and then deposit the fats around the hips, thighs and butt area. I learnt that the trick is to build these parts into muscles so less fats will deposit in them. My waistline used to be 38 inches and I always have to wear men's jeans because of my problem areas. I've got big hips and I don't think in future, I will ever lose the big hips but at the very least, I don't want them to grow any bigger but shapelier. One of the machines that I swear by is the e...

Fitness 101: Dumbbells

I like writing about stuffs that are also not directly related to my life so that I can help girls younger or around  my age to reach the peak of their confidence level simply by being more comfortable in their own skin :) So do read up my articles titled 101 something something and hopefully you can learn a thing or two. I can't say I'm totally nuts for good health but I have to emphasize that you still need to know the importance of good health. And being in good health doesn't necessarily mean avoiding high cholesterol food only. Exercising is still a must, even if you don't run in marathons. I can safely say that you are in good hands as long as you eat more of what is good for your body and less of what is bad. Don't forget to also exercise so that your body will remain in tip top condition and you don't fall sick so often because it's not just going to affect you but also your work and your personal lifestyle. No boss likes to have a sickly subordin...

Cheap Gym Alternatives

Sunday Times ran an article listing the addresses of gyms near homelands that are affordable and are hundreds of dollars cheaper than those exclusive mega gyms that charge more than $1K, and who keeps pestering their members to sign on to premium membership that costs even more than the basic membership. So there is really no excuse to NOT go to the gym especially if it's mere bus stops away from your house. Well, I have been going to the ClubFITT gym at Hougang (say hi! if you see me..especially on Sunday..coz that's the only day I go..haha) and I can't lie that I did lose some weight when I went there after putting on some the previous year coz of bad eating habits. I can't lie that I still do have those habits but I try to keep them to a minimum and cut out unnecessary eating as much as I can especially this year, right before I turn 30. Info extracted from Sunday Times (09.01.2011) Where: 15 Sports & Recreation Centres islandwide Membership fees: $310 for...

Get my Shape in Shape

I was surfing the internet just now and I found out that Tyra Banks had lost weight! Now she's an advocate of being who you are, no matter what size you are, and that you can still be hot. She had taken a lot of flak for her weight gain which was a far cry from her modelling days and despite being under the glares of media, she stood by her own self beliefs and wanted every other women to feel about themselves. But lately, for the sake of health, she decided to lose the weight. Within 6 months, she had successfully done so though she did struggle for quite a bit in the beginning because she was put on fad diets that didn't work for her. And now she's back to her modelling glory days when she was a lot slimmer. Though the emphasis here was not her trying to fit in to the society's norm of what size she should be, in true sense, she did it out of making herself healthier coz she at one point, her weight gain was attributed to her love for junk food. You can argue...

Kim Possible

I have a slight fascination with Kim Kardashian and not coz I'm turning against the guys..coz I love me guys..but they just don't love me back..haha. Though she's a socialite and gets into the gossip pages every now and then, and she's loving the attention, I don't inspire to be like that.  What I admire is..her body confidence. She's not petite and she's voluptuous in every sense and in every..er..curve and she knows that she will never be stick thin like many other hollywood stars are. She wants to show that real women can be curvy and sexy. Ok, so now I'm officially a 'real woman' since I'm curvy myself..along with pockets of fats here and there..haha. Like Kim, I love to eat though over the last few years, my choice of food has drastically dropped though at times, I tell myself, hey it's okay to eat as long as you don't overdo it coz life is too short. Seriously, way short. While she loves food, she also works out (and y...

Fitness - Strength training

Im going to take on a new direction against for blogging. Actually I was supposed to write in this manner, meaning to say not just about my sad depressing state of life at the moment..heh. I am going to write stuffs that will be useful to you like my previous how to be stylish guide. At least you don't just come here to hear me whine..haha. I feel like a teacher when I say this but...today's topic of the day is 'Strength Training'. Im one of those who believes strength training works. I know a lot of women are put off by the thought of lifting weights coz they are afraid they will bulk up. Chances are, they won't. Those women who do bulk up, they are doing more than just lifting weights because their main agenda is to have the body of a bodybuilder. Their diet also plays a part which includes protein shakes and whatever food that can help them to bulk up. Before I go on further, just what the heck is strength training. In my own words, it means building up y...
