Good Money Management..and How Bad Do You Want It?

When I see how people spend their money, it will come across my mind thinking how can they afford it. I myself struggle at times.  If they have plenty of money and they have money streaming in, even when they're asleep or when they're holding a job that gives them a good income where they don't have to live on paycheck to paycheck, I don't care how they spend their money. But if they find themselves struggling after their whirlwind shopping spree, I feel like there is a need for them to learn to manage their money well. I do think that whether you earn a lot or very little, we all should know how to manage the money. Why? The economy, whether you like it or not, is not very stable nowadays. A lot of people spend their money recklessly like they're simply living their lives as of that moment only and not for tomorrow. I feel that kids should be taught how to manage their money and expenses well very early in life. For me, ever since the prices have increased and ...

SMART Goal Setting & Leveraging on Social Media

This week, I had to design the covers of 10 notebooks which I did explain the reason why in my earlier post . But it's okay because if you're kind and generous, you will be duly rewarded. Anyway, designing is therapeutic as you get 'lost' in trying to come up with good designs but of course, when it starts to get stressful, it's no longer as fun. I like designing on smaller layouts because I think I will get bored or run out of ideas if I were to design on bigger layouts. But now, I got an order to design for 8 (yikes..) full sized 12" X 12" layouts and to be honest, I don't know how am I going to pull it. I believe, in this instance, I really have to pull in whatever knowledge I picked up from watching hundreds of you tube videos and translate them into the layouts. Wish me luck! Oh, I don't know it is going to turn out but I dare not take too much money from her so I just decide $15.00 instead of $20.00 and I was upfront in telling her that i...

Ka Ching Comes Early

Yay, I just wrote a blog post on having an emergency financial plan and then at 1am in the morning, I received an email on how much I would be getting for my performance bonus. And it's a healthy sum..yay! It's the second most that I received this time round. It could never beat the first one because it was based on my last pay in December which was technically my last pay for working in the company as well therefore it is more than my regular pay. If it that doesn't technical enough already..ha! Anyway, it's just shy of 0.25 of the full month's pay but me here thinks it's good enough..infact, very good enough! It's truly a financial reward for me for all the hard work last yearr. It came a little early because I was expecting to get it at least the week after. But I won't be going on a spending spree, save for some shopping at the usual haunts like H&M, Forever 21 and Mango, or even get another bag like as if I need another one. It probably won...

Emergency Financial Plan

I've mentioned before that this is one of my favourite months apart from of course, the birthday month and December. That is when all hell breaks loose as I go from shop to shop stocking up on things especially clothes because it's the bonus period. But this time round, I'm trying to be smarter with money. I've tried before and obviously I failed but I am trying my best to pay off as much debt as I can every month while at the same time, saving some stash of cash to fall back on instead of worrying every now and then if I can pull through til the next pay. I think that all young women must learn to be smart with money. It's a really useful life skill that actually should be developed since young but then you know, it's never too late to start whatever income you are earning. Life can always throw this curve ball at ya and then you'll find yourself tearing your hair out trying to figure out the solution. So I believe instead of waiting for major things to...

Starting a Shopping Fund

I haven't done this for the longest time ever! Starting a shopping fund that is. A long long time ago, I did have such a fund and it doesn't have to be much. $20 can even get you something nice if you know how to hunt for it. Even then, if have to add on, mere few dollars only especially if the item is on sales. If you follow my blog, you will probably know that I am the sole breadwinner of my family and I didn't earn much but now after the promotion probably it will be slightly better but we'll see because at the moment I have yet to clear my debts. So! While I am at it, I thought to myself that I should definitely restart this shopping fund. Reason being, I am always doubtful when I want to buy clothes even if the item is on sales. I don't completely stop buying clothes as there are occasions where I would buy dresses from Cotton On when on sales and it used to cost a lot. For their kind of material, I didn't think it is worth paying the full price. But...

Saving Money on Hobbies, Clothes & Make up

How many of you buy thing online? I normally buy makeup, beads for making earrings and craft related products for my cards. I know a lot of people buy clothes online but not for me because I don't want to waste money if I have bought and can't fit. In the past, I used to but I'm not always so lucky. I'm only lucky if someone gives them away or sell it for less if they can't fit it..heh. Normally I keep to a very small budget if I were to buy things online because you can go crazy if you don't put a cap on it. Ever happen to you before right? Ha! I knew it. Nowadays I don't always keep tab of how much balance I have because whatever money I hold, they're not meant to be hold forever..haha. I mean, yeah it will be good to have some money until my next pay day and there were days that I had to loan money from friends and relatives in order to survive until my next pay day and that is sad but I had no other choice. This month, I've got a pay rais...

Be Your Own Boss

People make mistakes, I know but this year, I think I have made far too many. But I'm trying to cope well and though it's hard, I always think that hey, things will become better. Meanwhile, try not to make too many mistakes, ha! I've said it before and you probably hear it in the news as well that inflation costs things to rise in price generally 20% more. While the news report that we are getting paid better, I...beg to differ though. There are still many of us who struggle with daily expenses and the rising cost of goods that we have to think of alternative venues. For me, namely borrowing. My credit limit sucks. I don't like it but what to do, some things are not within my control. When I hear about people not working and then those who earn so much less but has a family to feed, my only thought is that how the heck these people survive. But I admire those who rise through the adversities, work hard to improve their salary standards by changing jobs or by takin...

Life 101: Coping with Financial Difficulties

When I first got to know that I will be the sole breadwinner when my father was sick and could not work, it took a toll on me as my world changed. I felt restricted as I was already not earning enough and then now I have to support the whole family. But I was already paying bills as and when so I knew the routine but the fact that I won't be able to have more pocket money for myself, it stressed me out. But life goes on. I learn about money management and though the situation can get so bad, I had to resort to borrowing, I only know that things will get better and they do. So whenever I get some extra moolah, I stash it away. Of course I always dream of continuing my studies but at this point of time, it is not really possible yet because my brother is still schooling and my mum is not working. While I don't expect to have a lot of savings as being a sole breadwinner, the money will eventually go towards my family's expenditure, I still try as I might to save some loose coi...

Money 101: Spending on Little Income

Nowadays, I don't spend much time on blogging which is good compared to in the past where I can take up to 2 hours to write a post. Call me a traditionalist but even with the advancement in social networking, I still like to blog even if my blog posts aren't one to rave about. That is until I put nekkid photos of mine but then I don't want to crash the internet server. Anyway, I just want to voice my frustrations that this month, I am not able to buy some nice things for myself. It's one thing to start like make up and another thing to not being able to buy all the variety of eye shadow palettes. If I could just invest in one make up item, that will be an eye shadow palettes with lots of shades in it. Lovely! Of course it will be even lovelier if  I could get my hands on the urban decay palette. Nice to the max. Should have bought it when I had my bonus in December but well, no point harping on it since it is already over. But like I've always stressed that th...

My Savings Reward

Financial management is such a big headache. Im one of those people who have to pay bills from my rather small salary so I have no choice but to actually try to scrimp my way through life although if you take away my internet connection, I will probably just die. I actually don't find it enough to just scrimp but rather save money for future use and for emergencies as well which I have mentioned months before.  I actually have somehow successfully managed to save quite a bit of amount but it's still too early and nothing so major has come up so far that demand a lot of money though I do come close to that. Currently, Im in the midst of settling my town council conservancy charges which have accumulated to quite a lot and thankfully, I have spoken to one of the officers and they will retract back the summon they had given to my father. I still have to pay the charges though. I actually asked if I could pay by instalment and they said that I have to pay at least half first bef...
