So Near yet So Far

Right..so yet another entry based on that same movie...hehe. When I watched the movie a second time around, and reading the reviews as written by other viewers, I found that there are a whole lot of things we can learn from this movie. As much as I'd loved to list every one of them here, I think the second one the struck me most is the beginning of a blossoming romance. Though I did talk about the conclusion in the earlier post where there are a few ways for you to interpret. For me, I chose to accept the fact that he had passed away while lying unconscious in a pool of blood from an accident on the way to the airport. However, just as you thought that he had died without knowing if Orked, the malay girl he truly loves, loves him as much as he did and wanting to hear that from her own voice, not all was lost. He was heard picking up the phone when back to the scene in the car when she finally read the letter from him and was truly touched over how he viewed her as the Love Poetry presented to him by God when he prayed to Him for days. The confessions, which made her cry, and me too lah....hehe....put a stop to my thoughts on why the heck he never wrote for her a love poem but onlie reading that of other Poets even though we knew that he could write and read great mandarin romantic poems. It was then he revealed that he wanted to write her one in mandarin which he would help to translate except that he could never put them down in words which he frustrated him and he later turned to God for help.

It was onlie after a few days later that he came to realise that he did not have to write a poem about her..she WAS the poetry because everytime he sees her or hears her voice, he never felt so peaceful...just like when he reads and writes poems...it was the very same calming feelings he had.

But then again, the voice coming from him through the phone when she fess up her love for him finally, u wonder how can he answered when he was already lying motionless on the road with the fon ringing beside him. like I said previously, I chose to think that he held that glimmer of hope she would say she loves him...even when he has passed on. SAD!!!!!!!!

Okay another one was over the tuber roses. Right..just like that clueless chinese guy (who mistook Unisex Salon as Bisexual Salon...bwahahaha..!) I had no idea what the heck was that. But she explained to him when he was about to whip out his wallet to buy the flowers from the street vendor. She said she did not like flowers but this tuber roses, found at a certain hotel I think...had this magical..almost angelic smell which she loved. It was the perfect excuse to show his declaration of love for her despite having met once at that pirated vcd stall. Somehow....at some parts of the show, u would understand on why he was so adamant in pursuing this malay girl.....through glimpses of his past childhood where he had chance encounters with her..but she was clueless still as to how she had made an impression on him during those encounters. It was like...he did not want to let go of her anymore because he believed that she was the one he was waiting for....and he immediately fell in love with her as they had an exchange of eye contacts at that stall....where everything was so quiet, even in the midst of a bustling crowded open market. It was like a magical encounter...until of course her friend had to snap her fingers to get the two future lovebirds to snap out of it literally.

However, the search for that tuber roses proved to be both a good and a bad thing. Bad in the sense that halfway through his search for such roses in the whole of Ipoh on his scooter, he was caught in a situation where he was confronted by his lover...the sister of the triad gang leader in his area. She was this lonely gal whose patience was wearing thin with him whose empty promises from him to call her led to nowhere. Then he was so tired from all the travelling and going from shop to shop in search of these roses that somehow, they got embroiled in a moment of passion back at her place...but guilt sank in of which he made his 'getaway' from her at 4am. It came to a small confrontation from her on why he had to leave. When she failed to get him to stay, it then turned into a bad thing later on when she got pregnant and that very piece of news presented to her in a letter later, was what drove her away from him. And closer to his death.

On the other hand, when he gave her a surprise visit in school when she got her results, he looked tired and forlorn which got her attention. However she didn't think much of him, walking away twice from him after showing her care and concern when she postponed their date together seeing how tired he was. It was onlie after he said he had been searching high and low for that tuber roses all over Ipoh onlie to find a shop selling them very near his pirated vcd stall....which prompted him to conclude that he searched so far onlie to find it so near. You would then see how Orked..the malay girl...light up with this new thought that this guy had fallen in love with her implying that she was just like the tuber roses...which to me lah...I suppose he was saying how race is onlie as far as it gets between them...but love has brought them so near each other. Or the most obvious one is that he has searched high and low for true love but she is right here infront of him. This would then explain the short previous scene where Orked, still as a child saw this Chinese boy looking at her from behind of which she smiled before she continued to walk again. He remembered her as that as they stood at the very same spot where they had the encounter years ago of which he held on to that memory hoping to find her again one day.

Of course, Orked fell in love with him....smitten by his ultra sweet gestures which became stronger and more apparent with her after a fallout with her Malay boyfriend who tried to touch her all over. It was then she believed that this Chinese guy was the one for her.

Okay..I am not gonna do a full review of this movie lah..hehe...coz anyway, this show had been screened before months ago which I never got to catch. In other words, it's old news lah....but it was such a beautiful beautiful love story although the love bits were not displayed in a lot of scenes but still they captured the strongest of emotions from both characters everytime they were together. They didn't have to kiss.....they onlie had to hold hands or just chat with each other at some fast food restaurant..it was so romantic as he talked to her in a soothing caring voice which was so not his outlook as an ah beng while she cared for him in her own child like enthusiasm of a teenager blissfully in love while not being 'carried away' by physical desires like her own bestfriend with her boyfriend. A true gem....
