Slimming Programme Seminar

Okay! So I've been meaning to write about this for the longest time but you know me..the easily distracted one. Anyway, the gist of it was already made known to my friend Snow a.k.a. Mariah in denial where I was bitching about my colleagues who were like so taken in by this seminar organized like a week ago about weight management among muslim women. It was a free one and the fact that the talk would be held by a well known nutritionist who also recently helped a fellow popular male celebrity to lose 17kg within 3 months through sensible diet and exercise, I thought heck..why not? COuld pick up useful tips as well as training hours..hehe..Anyway, seeing how enthusiastic this lot of colleagues are and how they have been trying all sorts of ways to lose weight (but apparently..not the proper way..), this seminar may give them the relevant answers.

In a way, I applaud her efforts as well as the others who have been working very hard the past few years to control and bring down the statistics of the obesity rate among the malay population. I would say the seminar was interesting and mostly based on her personal experiences working with the malay society. She would hear the typical woes like for instance twenty years down the road of doing brisk walking, they still look pretty much the same. The best is that they have gone through all sorts of methods whether through slimming packages, doctor's prescribed medicine, off the counter slimming pills and jamu...which is a type of traditional medicine.

In other words, she was like the last resort whenever she was the guest speaker at some seminars or some road shows where she would collaborate with some health agencies to target the crowd. Having personally gone through some weight gain after marriage and childbirth, she knew what it felt like to see what she used to wear and how she was not able to fit it no more. She used her own knowledge in nutrition to lose the weight and it was successful in the first place until...she got pregnant again with the second one. This one was much worse because she gained double than before.

But it was her strong determination later to fit in her old clothes that she persevered in trying to lose the weight. Along the way too, she furthered her knowledge in nutrition because she wanted to do more than merely teachin in school. She wanted to help our malay society and to her, even though it was not an easy task which took up several years of planning and organizing only to achieve just a slight drop of percentage rate in obesity.

Therefore in comes her weight loss programme organized by an private organization targetting at women's overall wellness being. The nutritionist was like saying that one of the key thing to make people determined in losing weight is to make them sign up for such a course like this because of the plenty of moral support available among peers with the same objective which is to lose the weight permanently through natural weight loss. However, as much as I thought that it was a good programme, I found the price to be quite a major setback because it was pretty hefty to me. But at certain time periods, they would be on offer and they could pay lesser than that like around 280 plus they stand to gain other benefits as well. Still...

The package is guaranteed to work and make you lose at least 10 kg in three months. Even if it is not for 1o, confirmed along the way if you follow their guidelines closely, you can lose some weight at least. Basically to have some weight loss is anybody's game...young or old.

Plus it has got to do something about our lifestyles. For example, those who have gone through brisk walking or a mini aerobics work out session at some park with the club goers, you know what they would do straight after that? They will hold some mini picnic sessions at the park itself exchanging food and some of the foods are rather heavy like nasi lemak or mi siam. Or the next thing they can do is visit the nearest hawker centres.

Oh, and the most famous one? Those who would visit those public gyms at the community centres or at some sporting complex may also complain about the lack of weight loss too. Okay for those who want to lose weight, she said that they must concentrate on machines to burn down their fats. Basically things like the treadmills or stair climber where you will sweat like crazy. And then once significant fat loss has been achieved, toning exercises come in so that one will not look too flabby from all the loose or hanging skin. However, people go there and made use of machines targetting at toning various muscle groups instead of going on board the threadmill.

So you see......I didn't say that this is an entirely worthless package for those who need professional help. It works on flexible payments with a 100% guarantee that you will lose weight for sure and they have successful cases to back up their programmes. But in the first place, we are not talking about some kind of breakthrough technology here. We are talking about the basic principals of weight loss. A sensible diet and regular exercise. The only advantage of this programme? They make sure you do it right. That's all.

Okay, I dont discourage my colleagues from wanting to sign up even if I think that it is rather pricey. But think carefully leh..it's still money we are talking about here you know. You want moral support? Get a weight loss buddy who probably wont charge..hehe..and is either as determined as you are to lose the fab or get those who have successfully lost weight and kept their weight off to help you keep track of your records.

In a way, I may be a tad bit glad that these colleagues of mine want to do something about it but just between you and me, I think some have yet to get their mentality right. Like for one of them...maybe she needs to work on her cravings. I would not mind if she divides up her same snack proportion into afternoon and saving it in the evening. But please.....don force others to eat up your other half just because you have this terrible guilty pleasure thingey that hits upon you midway while snacking.

To lose weight while making others gain especially those who have worked long and hard enough is a big fat worst remedy ever. Can you imagine if in just an entire day, I had to see her getting hungry every now and then and i was like her dumping ground?

I mean..they give up easily...they expect things to come to them on a silver platter..they expect things to be made simple or easy for them...and they expect people to give in to their demands by touching on moral or religious issues that if we dont do, it's like we are sinning in the first place. HEllo?!! You are the one who cant finish the darn food okay?! DOnt bullshit.

Whatever it is..dont be immoral. Let it be your burden if you choose to eat more than you can afford as you dont THINK first before buying. I dont see the point of her getting angry for seeing the food wasted like that if she or no one else is gonna eat it. I guess the seminar can only do her good..
