Life 101: Accomplish More in Less Time

I admire those people that have many things in their hand and yet they just have the time and energy to accomplish them. While many of us complain that they simply don't have time, everyone is entitled to the same 24 hours. It's just a matter of how you prioritize and make the best use of time.

So in this Life 101, I shall present to you some basic time saving skills that will help you cut some corners with time :)

  • Learn to prioritize
Basically, you have to know what are the more critical things that you need to accomplish. It may seem that you have many on your plate but it doesn't mean you have to finish accomplishing all in one go. By prioritizing, you will also learn to do better in the tasks that you have set yourself to do. And don't beat yourself up if you can't finish it. There is always the next day. If it is more urgent, perhaps you can spend more time on it than the rest, especially if there is a tight deadline to it.

  • Spend a few minutes before you sleep or after you wake up to do up a plan.
Half the battle is won if you know what you are going to do for at least the rest of the day. It cuts time wastage as you basically know what you have to accomplish and make you more focused so that you don't get easily distracted as your mind wanders what the heck you are going to do next.

  • Plan your actions
You have no idea how much time you can save if you have a mental note out of what you plan to do in your daily life. For example, if I have a few things to do after work, I will make a mental note of what I need to do and how to go about doing it. If I need to post out letters, withdraw money and do grocery shopping later, I will take note of where to walk so I can go to the post box, followed by the bank and supermarket in one single route. I will also make a mental note of what are the things I need to buy so that I will more or less just zoom by the aisles and just grab and go instead of wasting time looking at things not on my 'things to buy' list.

  • Just do it
It's really easy to procrastinate especially if you just feel lazy about doing it. The only way to beat this, is basically to just do it. Once you get the hang of it after like 10-15 minutes, you basically just forget how long it takes for you to even do the first step.

  • Multi-task at least two things at the same time
Our brain may not have the capacity to do many things at the same time but we can still multi task. For example, while waiting for a program to download, you can spend the waiting time doing something useful like reading a book that you have long wanting to read or doing the next task on your 'to do'list. At least if you have moved on to that task, you have started a bit on it and you don't waste further time starting from the beginning.

There are a lot of tips on the net that you can easily pick up but these are the basic ones. To me, it is always best to write down your plan instead of just making a mental to do list. At least you can see for yourself what you have done or need to do.

Good Luck!

One Step at A Time

Hello there It has been a while, right? I used to treat this blog as a place for me to rant, talk about nonsensical things and interests that, when I think back about it, were pretty cringeworthy. But it was part of the process of me growing up and navigating through my life which is full of ups and downs, just like the tidal waves. I still need a form of outlet to write out my thoughts and I have been journaling for the last few years. At first, I was still writing nonsense, or simply writing about how my day went, but I try to make it a more conscious journalling where I will write about things that I can take lessons from or to reflect on. So how has life been for me? Well, I no longer am running an online shop where I used to do customised cards and then just specializing in box cards. I do want to have an online business, preferably one I don't have to travel to meet people.  If you read my last post about being zen, I think I have 'tripled' the amount of zen inside of...

Listen to Me

It kinda irks me when I am trying to express an opinion or sharing a piece of knowledge but it's met with strong objection or Im being cut half way before I even finished. I mean...come on...does it hurt to actually listen first, doesnt matter if u agree or not? Yes I know everyone is entitled to their own opinions but it's frustrating because I feel like a sore loser. That sort of conversation is actually begging to be turned into some huge argument if I am equally annoying and equally strong headed as well. But I dont want to do that especially if they are my friends. Then again, I am subjected to being called a wimp or somebody who cant stand up strong against what she believes in or her own opinions. That will sorta give the person a sense of pride for getting a landslide victory. At first I used to think that hey, maybe the person has a point and I am wrong. But come to think of it, that's bull! It's one thing not to argue and another thing to let ur own opinions b...

Ray of Light

The act of falling in love. Very subjective and it also depends on the object you desire. Well, if it is the 'whoa mama!' sort of hunk or good looker, then yours truly has fallen in love many times over and over again. But a guy who has stolen my heart for good..well...that has yet to happen. But let's not talk about my non existent love life. Let's just ponder over the act of falling in love. From what I have observed through several tv shows or even movies, I gather that well..not everyone is so lucky to have fallen in love at first sight. It takes time, and maybe it will even take boyfriend after boyfriend or girlfriend after girlfriend before reality smacks your face and you end up with your very first boyfriend (gasp!). What a truly merry go round. Hey, it happens. Because we make mistakes and we are too blind to notice how someone can truly bring you happiness by their sheer volumes of care and concern for you. In the midst of crisis, a ray of light shines through...
