Being Aware

Sigh, I don't know what is becoming of the Aware saga in Singapore of which it is an association aiming to act on behalf of women in general in our quest to attain gender equality. This is a battle that is on par with other kinds of human rights that will entitle us to get the most out of the benefits in being part of the society in general. But it is a battle that needs persistent moral support along with good leaders and advocates to act as voices for other women. Unfortunately, if among themselves, they cannot even reach a consensus because everyone is just too strong headed to listen to what others have to say, how do you expect women who are sitting on the fringe like me be able to gain the trust of such fellow leaders?

I mean come on, stop playing the blame game. In my humble opinion, it is good that the new exco want to steer the ship on a new course though it may not be on agreeable terms with everyone. Furthermore, with constant changes, even old values get replaced with new values although I do agree that without a strong foundation, things can fall apart. But certainly there is a balance that can be reached somehow because at the end of it, they have to ascertain who they are fighting the rights for rather than to just achieve their own personal goal of holding a high post in the commitee.

Maybe that's the problem. When women get more and more successful compared to women in the past who would easily succumb under societal pressure to always sacrifice themselves for the sake of others, we get lost in the way. Not lost in the sense of direction where we are heading because we are very sure of the destination, it's just common knowledge that some people will do anything and everything to get there the more successful they get. But like I said, this is not a typical climb on a corporate ladder. It is a climb towards achieving gender equality and everyone's opinions matters even if we do not agree with them because it will totally defeat the purpose of having this organization in the first place.

So I hope they clear this 'saga'. Actually, this is not the first time that Aware experiences such internal conflict but this one is clearly blown out with heavy coverage of the media. I hope that it will end soon. Enough with the power struggle already.

Birthday Gathering & House Hunting

Last week, I celebrated a friend of mine's belated birthday together with another friend at her condo. Sadly, this would be the last time we would hold the celebration at her place because she has finally managed to sell off her condo unit after one year of looking for a buyer. Mostly we used the swimming pool facilities although the two of us didn't swim at all but just chill under the shade. We brought home cooked food and I really appreciated my friend for doing this for us, thinking about how the young son of a friend of us would love the swimming pool for kids. She is so selfless and kind to her friends and I'm truly blessed to have her in my life.  While one was selling off the house, the other friend was on the verge of getting a dream house for herself and her young son. In life, we have many priorities and things to look forward to. Each of our dreams and aspirations are different from one another, like for me, getting a house is not a priority at the moment.  ...

A Reminder to the Living

Recently, we lost our former President when he passed away at the age of 92. He was known to have his heart for the people although those who worked closely with him couldn't actually picture him as that for he was a taskmaster when it came to work. He did his own narratives and do the best that he could as he knew where he came from and wanted to make good out of his life.  He showed that the circumstances that we are in can't stop us from going far in life. We should continue to focus on our actions, has strong dedication and when things get difficult, look at the bigger picture and understand why we are here. Ultimately, we should all be working towards the purpose we have in mind which makes things easier to cope. Thank you for helping the Singaporeans especially those who needed help most. You would always be the people's President. On the other spectrum, a young child had also lost his life. A few of my colleagues witnessed the events which unfolded in front of...
