Extension of Circuit Breaker, its Impact & Working from Home

I found this hilarious as I have been doing home workouts too, lol. I'm sorry to my neighbours living below me.  So now living in Singapore where we have 12K over Covid-19 cases and in recent days, the number has been reaching 1K plus per day due to the active testing of the foreign workers in the dormitories. As such, since we are still in a critical stage, two weeks since they implemented the Circuit Breaker (CB), our Prime Minister dropped another bad news, the extension of the CB for another 4 weeks. With that, even stricter measures and the closing of even more F&B outlets such as the popular Bubble Tea shops, ice cream, drinks and snacks kiosks. Now the Bubble Tea, or BBT, caused such a commotion the day of the announcement that many flocked to the various BBT shops and ordered online through Grab to have the so called 'last drink' before the closure. The extension of CB is until 1st of June and there so many have the impression we would be without this p...

Mental Health

Last week, I was on Instagram like I am most times, haha.must start to go cold turkey again. Then there was this post from a well known CEO of a religious institute that was founded by him. He was asking some simple questions such as ‘how have you been?’ And there were many replies but sadly, most were heartbreaking to read. Understandably, due to the Covid-19 situation, some people have to work harder than most days especially when they are in the healthcare industry and being away from their families.  There were also some facing financial uncertainties like will they lose their jobs because many projects and contracts have been postponed or cancelled, and then facing a dip in their salary whether they are working professionals who received pay cuts or freelancers who are earning little to no income. Some exceptions to those who embrace technology such as to rely more on e-commerce, zoom or web seminars to still bring in the income though not as much as they used to, depending ...

Who Are We to Judge

Hi there Believe it or not, this was the meal I had for our last gathering before the Circuit Breaker of which one of the measures was no more dine in but only takeaways. This is a big blow for many businesses in the F&B industry whose main source of revenue is from dine in customers. I've walked around malls to run errands during this first week of the circuit breaker and it's quite a sad state, almost like a ghost town and pretty dark too so most non essential businesses are closed. So in my previous post, I wrote about how I have been listening to podcast and this is done more during work because I still have to go to my office unless most people who work from home now because I don't have a laptop yet. So with my iPad, I can listen to an hour of podcast with little interruption. The recent one was an interview with a former local TV entertainer who has a reputation of being controversial because he is very outspoken about the other side of the TV industry as...

Circuit Breaker

Last Friday, our Prime Minister made his 3rd speech regarding the Covid-19 situation and his taskforce further expanded on the measures to be taken starting from the 07 April to 05 May. In short, the situation has worsened and they are acting based on the current situation by introducing gradual measures. Because we Singaporeans are the panicky kind, like how funny they started to form snaking queues at the supermarkets even before our PM made his official speech..lol, they have to be careful yet inventive in the words used. For the first time, I learnt the phrase 'circuit breaker' instead of the usual word 'lockdown' as used in some other countries. And instead of saying closing down schools, they said the schools would go into full home based learning. It's also like how you are allowed to go out but then you need to be back home by certain time. So many analogies I can think of, haha. Anyway, they really mean business this time. They tried to thread the water b...
