My Thoughts on My Part-Time Studies

Finally, I can sit down and write a blog post about my on-going part-time studies! It's been a harrowing really eye opening experience juggling a full time work, part-time studies and running my online shop.I had to be smart when it comes to planning my time so that I can include time for studies, basically for the recent ICAs or Individual Continual Assessment, which test my knowledge on what I have learnt, fulfilling orders for my online shop and some 'me' time or family time. There are of course times where I struggle especially when my eyes are too tired to open when the alarm rang for me to wake up and catch up on my studies or orders. But despite these hard moments, I managed to carve out the time, nevermind if I have to wake up in the middle of the  night to either study or fulfill orders. How's my class for my part-time studies? I enjoy them. I won't say that they're easy which I thought it would be easy breezy. I don't know where I get that f...

Celebrating My Birthday in 2013 - Part Three (Vivocity & Seoul Garden Hotpot)

Finally, the last part of my birthday celebration in September!  Yes this sort of thing ought to be blogged about no matter how late..haha. Anyway, my friend Natasha had it all planned out and I really really appreciate it because we had our SECOND karaoke session all because she knew how much I love our KTV session. And finally I get to eat korean food which is one of my favourite food of course. Too bad one of our friends couldn't join us for that but no matter, it was a great lunch. The funny thing was that we were served by the same person throughout. From ushering us to our table, taking our orders, serving our food and then making payment to him when we leave. LOL. He really lived up to an expectation of a supervisor, a young one at that. Plus he even wished me Happy Birthday. That is so sweet. Oh yes, he even took our photos when we asked him as he was passing by. Talk about multi-tasking! Look at those yumz food! After our karaoke session, when we s...

Celebrating My Birthday in 2013 - Part One

This is going to be a 3 part series..or maybe 4, ha..who knows. So it's the dawn of realization that I'm no longer getting younger but older. This is fine by me but I hate the thought that I won't be looking as youthful as I did before. But then again, back when I was in my twenties, people thought I was in my LATE twenties which of course made me work extra hard to do something about my weight and personal appearance. When you look frumpy, people have the tendency to add years to your age. To be honest, I have not received any presents yet but my two good friends, who plan my birthday every year (Thank You!) have planned something for me this Saturday. This involves...get this..KARAOKE! It is one of my favourite activities! Too bad it can't be enjoyed all the time but singing isn't my passion so I probably be bored to death if I keep on singing. Moving on... My colleagues celebrated my birthday early with a birthday cake! It was during the September holidays ...

Prayers Answered...and Sleeping Hours Deprived

For the last few weeks, I have been praying hard that I will get sales because I want to have money until the time I get my pay. I don't want to be completely broke. Then my prayers are answered when I kept getting orders for Teachers' Day and despite them being pretty last minute, I persevered and even getting on little sleep while working throughout the night right until I have to work.  However, I still need to try to maintain a healthy cash flow which I admit I'm struggling with. When I had certain amount of money, I had to use some of it to buy the materials for my next order while the rest goes into spending on the family like buying daily necessities and food. I still need to work on getting some savings. This will be pretty much settled though when I receive the money from my last order because apparently she had forgotten about. I just hope that she didn't think that she had paid me :s because that will be such a scary thought. If fingers crossed, she pays me...

It's Thosai Time at Little India

Early this month, my friend and I paid a visit to Little India with two objectives in mind. First, to indulge ourselves in thosai..heh..more specifically, masala thosai which is thosai with potato filling. It was most definitely filling :s but hearty as well! By the way, it's at the Komala Vilas if you are craving for one too..ha. Especially after I post these pics!  patiently..no wait, fabulously waiting for food yay..food's here! my friend's dream come true! ok, she just had a craving for it..ha! pictures courtesy of my friend..because somebody doesn't have instagram..ha. By the way, our second agenda is basically for my friend to shop for Indian clothings for a wedding of our good friend's brother. Yes, it is an Indian reception and frankly, we were excited about it because it's not all the time we're invitied to an Indian wedding reception. Spoiler alert: the food and entertainment were faboosh! I actually blog about it in a ...

Out & About in Universal Studios - MOE Family Day 2013

A little back story. I work for the government and boy, does it have its ups and downs. People say when you work for the government, you are pretty much in a stable job. Not true. I once got retrenched from a stat board which is also part government. It was gut wrenching although in my next job, I did get to work with the same group of people. However, it was also a turning point in my life. I chose to live it instead and jump ship to the ministry. I won't say the perks are better. But to me, whatever job I am in,  being public or private sector, I want to do my best and be on top of the game. One of the perks is getting tickets below the price, but of course with its own set of terms and conditions. Whatever it is, I finally get to go to the  Universal Studios in Resorts World Sentosa..yay & WHEEEEE!! I missed the waterworld show because for the life of me, I couldn't find the place and also because I got distracted by the junior roller coaster ride..heh. So as pr...

Family Love & The Start of Schooling Year

Every family is unique and my family is pretty much like every else. We don't have much to live on as in I don't have a high paying job but we can survive. I do get additional income such as the quarterly payouts we get from the maintenance allowance and also from the work bonus that I get thrice a year. Of course, in this job I don't have the 6 or 10 month bonus kind but oh well, whatever amount I get, I am happy because it will also go towards spending on my family's. Not the big ticket stuffs but mostly the basic necessary stuffs to keep us going. Once in awhile...or like what my mum says, once a year..heh, we will go out for dinner at restaurant and can easily accumulate 70 plus to 80 plus. Of course, I'm always shocked that the food we eat cost that much even though we try to not order the expensive dishes but still, can't run away from the GST and service charge. But yah, like what she said, once a year treat. I don't mind spending that amount but on...

My Scrapbooking & Card Making Hobby

Financially, I loved the month of March and uhm...not so much for April and May because there are no benefits, apart from no holidays too..haha. But it's alright. I am quite happy with the money that I have right now, which I'm keeping fingers crossed I'm not touching because it's mostly to fund my studies and also for emergency use. I know I will be saying this and then later, I will somehow use the money because I have 'no choice'.  I have been guilty however, that I spent slightly more than $100 in March and then close to $100 in April buying the materials for my hobby. I tried not to spend anymore on it when pay comes in last Friday but I can't stop thinking about popping by Papermarket to buy the materials for my scrapbooking and cardmaking until my brain hurts. My colleague is right. Once you get on the bandwagon of this hobby, it will turn into an obsession. Thankfully, I am pretty conscious of what I am buying and try to only buy things that I wil...

Celebrating Natasha's Birthday in 2013

My friends are mostly in the thirties. No wait. All of them are in their early thirties already. But all of them, at least I think so, are happy at this stage of their life. There are a lot of changes, definitely, with families or children, and some swinging single people like me..haha. Well, I'd like to think that it is because God wants me to do some soul searching before granting someone to search for me. Trust me, I have a lot of soul searching to do. Anyway, enough about me. Here are some of the pictures taken after our yearly karaoke session..woo! Love karaoke by the way. Oh yes, I also like to throw in some 'extra's and this time, I gave her a handmade frame. Actually, this corkboard mount frame was given to me some time back and she wanted me to finish decorating it. Hrm, instead of throwing it away, why not make something out of it yah? I didn't plan out anything when I made this collage but I guess I watched enough videos and seen enoug...

So Fast..Quarter of the Year Has Gone

Wow...just like that, 1st quarter of the year has already gone. But it's okay. I did want March to come fast though because of all the extra moolah we will get. So now I am entering April with some stashed away..hopefully.  I tried not to be calculative but sometimes I can't help it. I guess it's part of my natural self because I am a sole breadwinner who does not earn much and I have three mouths, including myself to feed. So I have to be on track with how much money I have left. However, this can be a bad habit. Knowing how much is left is one thing. Being obssessive over it is another thing and today onwards, I will not be in such state of mind anymore. At least I hope so.  Anyhoo, I don't think I have spent the money carelessly. Of course, the maintenance allowance is used on the family first meaning, buy food for them, groceries for my mum's cooking for the next 1 week, and not forgetting myself too, part of my performance bonus was spent on entertainment...

Being Miss Irresistible

Yay, I will be posting many awesome posts shortly. I received my healthy performance bonus (well..healthy..as compared to previous years) and while I've saved up most of them for my upcoming studies in October, I managed to get me some new stuffs including craft materials for my online shop and  my scrapbooking hobby and of course, make up items for my other hobby..haha. Fine, it's not really a hobby but more like a personal interest. I believe as women, we must always look good and whether or not you like to be completely dolled up, partially dolled up...the point is, sometimes you need a little bit more help to make you look even better than you are right now. Yes, enough of justification.  Early this week, I finally got myself the book by Marie Forleo called Make Every Man Want You (How to Be So Irresistible You'll Barely Keep from Dating Yourself!)..phewh..the title is so long I have to google it to the words right. Before I got the book, I have actually been follow...

Ka Ching Comes Early

Yay, I just wrote a blog post on having an emergency financial plan and then at 1am in the morning, I received an email on how much I would be getting for my performance bonus. And it's a healthy sum..yay! It's the second most that I received this time round. It could never beat the first one because it was based on my last pay in December which was technically my last pay for working in the company as well therefore it is more than my regular pay. If it that doesn't technical enough already..ha! Anyway, it's just shy of 0.25 of the full month's pay but me here thinks it's good enough..infact, very good enough! It's truly a financial reward for me for all the hard work last yearr. It came a little early because I was expecting to get it at least the week after. But I won't be going on a spending spree, save for some shopping at the usual haunts like H&M, Forever 21 and Mango, or even get another bag like as if I need another one. It probably won...

Down and Out with Flu

I haven't been well the start of the week being down with flu and other related symptoms but good there is no fever. But I still dragged myself to work because there's simply too much work and I'm practically trying to swim and keep myself afloat to prevent myself from drowning. However, my boss, has been encouraging, despite making few mistakes here and there basically because I don't really know how my colleague does her work and I'm covering for her and taking instructions from the phone. But anyway, in life, there will always be challenges and what you do is to rise above them.  I didn't go doctor and I don't have any flu medication so what I do is to basically have a lot of rest when I reach home like practically after dinner, I will be fast asleep already nursing my flu. My mum has been helping me too by applying medicated oil on my nose which works basically the next day, the flu was practically gone. It's only clogged but I don't have to ...

Much Ado About Nothing

So I finally established the fact that the guy whom I suspected might be crushing on me, has children. Okay I don't know if he has one, or two or the fact that he is married but all I know is that I am cleared. I know you're thinking what is the big deal like what is wrong in him liking me. Nothing wrong, but it does seem awkward for someone to be interested in me especially if I don't have any interest in the person although I am trying to be more open minded a bit this year in order to make new guy friends. However, I will have to cross out chatting because at some point I chat so much in my younger days that I am put off by the idea of chatting..haha. I might give it a go, one day eventually, but I guess I have chatted with so many kinds of people, even met them to some extent, so I'm like yah, I'm so over this. But back to this false assumption that this guy is interested in me because he bought breakfast for me only. Where does the assumption come up in the...

Pretty Pricey Make up Product

I received  my salary earlier this week due to the public holidays because the actual pay day falls on one of the days. It is after the Chinese New Year season. I actually used some money last week prior to the pay day which also mean paying back what I have used which means I have a bit lesser to spend for the rest of the month. Ouch. Yet I will consider myself still lucky for getting some other forms of money to be able to top up what I have spent, not including what I had spent on the previous week. I would say that it isn't much but better than nothing, right? I am still continuing to work hard to make my online business successful though I must admit that it is most defo not easy. How do people do it? But really, if you ask me, it's a matter of finding time for it. For myself, I have a full time job as well and what I do is that obviously I will get tired after work and I will naturally take a nap which can stretch a few hours. Then if I must, I will get up and do my c...

Physical Attraction vs Charming Personality

I pondered over this issue recently this week if I am willing to bypass physical unattractiveness, according to me, versus the charming and sweet personality. What stirred this kind of thoughts? Well, read on to find out. LOL, like some shameless promotion. Anyway, the story started like this. Last week, I helped a colleague from the secondary school who came down with her Admin Manager or AM to key in the budget because this was her first time. I did once before and my boss nowadays always assume that I know everything or if I don't know, I can find out easily. Hrmph. So yah, before they came down I studied the workbook from the course I attended previously because I don't think I want to teach them the wrong things. I helped the AM retrieve some files for him to study while waiting for my colleague to key to study some things because he was pretty new. Then, after that he tried to make small talk with me asking if I ever go up to the secondary school to try their cafeteri...

Good Things...and A Fall

One of my wishes is for my brother to pass his O level with grades good enough to go into the polytechnic. I am so glad he did. I have been praying endlessly every single day during my waking hours, such as when I walk, when I sit down, when I am in the bus...just so God can hear me and know that I clearly wants him to go into polytechnic. I clearly also believe he deserves to go into one because he has been studying so hard for it and has been consistent in getting passes for his Mathematics. This was because this would be his second attempt. I did not want him to screw up his second attempt. Nobody likes to fail the second and ONLY chance they were given to do it right. I could not be more thankful enough for my wish to be granted. It's really something for me. But this is a start of good things to come to him because the next day, he received an email to go for a job interview. I helped him to prepare his resume..after the longest time..heh...and send on his behalf. Yes, the t...

My Life in 2012 (Part Two)

Ok now, the continuation of Part Two of my life story...well, at least for the year 2012. I will make it pretty short and sweet but basically want to share my life's goals and aspirations in which 2012 has provided a stepping stone for me. Mistakes are made and along the way, we learn from them and that is how we grow as a person. I've clearly made mistakes too last year but instead of dwelling on them, it's better to move on in life and hope to become a better person. By this I mean, I must continue to be more tolerant, kind hearted and not let others destroy my inner peace. From the law of attraction, if we continue to be positive about things and be kind to people even if some are beyond tolerance and get on our nerves, good things will come to us. Of course, life isn't perfect and there are bound to be things that can change the game of life but we shouldn't let feelings get in the way so much so we can't think straight because we are too emotional.  W...

Hazy Start to 2013

Hey hey, I am back in the blogging world! My laptop totally couldn't start for the longest time ever and then I fell sick like it's some sort of tradition for me to be sick around this time specifically the tummy area. Welcome 2013! Anyway, my aim this year is to blog more often sort of like an update on what is going on in my life so when I look back many years down the road, I have a recollection of what I have achieved, the ups and the downs and whatever else life throws in my way. I am also going to make this a sharing place for anyone who happens to drop by with interesting posts that others can learn from. Plus it's a good excuse for me to write more stuffs too :P So I still owe that post before my laptop died on me by sharing what 2012 means to me.  I will get it done in the morning later. Honestly, 2013 is still a bit hazy for me. Financially, I have yet to reach a point where I'm struggling yet and I hope to continue this way with better financial control...
